Refurbishing a kitchen a few cupboards at a time - continuity of style?

We have a good sized kitchen which we don't particularly like (moved in a year ago)

I'd like to make some changes - add drawers and stuff (to make it more accessible) but we can't affford to replace the whole thing right now

If I replace a base unit with drawers I don't want to spend money on new fronts that match what I have I'd rather buy what I want when we can afford it

So do any kitchen do doors that they will guarantee will still be available for a few years or is there a better way to do it?

Sorry, can't help but watching this as it would be a way for me to do my kitchen a bit at a time.
Maybe concentrate on getting the units that you like and then at the end get one of those companies in to replace the fronts and worktop to match up? Hope someone will come along soon with ideas.

Will your kitchen fronts take paint? If so go for a painted look for the new units and paint the old to match. You can also buy matching handles to keep continuity.

So have no cupboard fronts while waiting for new doors? Or buying cheap doors with the intent to replace them?

Don't think they will paint - but they are off-white cream shaker so i'm not worried if they new bits don't match - I'm just concerned that I may start with purple gloss (I won't) and then purple gloss goes out of stock beofre I finished

A multicoloured kitchen might be quite snazzy actually.

If you get new units that will take paint then if they are discontinued you can get similar and paint them all the same when complete if you want them to match.

That's possible

DH is wondering if we can attach (the old) cupboard doors to the front of the bottom drawer - so it looks like the old cupboard but opens like a high fronted drawer

I think you ought to buy all the doors and door fronts in one go. Even if the same range happens to be available in a year or more, a different batch might not match.

Many suppliers will sell them separately, and are cheaper than High Street showrooms. I've used this one, it'll give you an idea of prices. There are many others.

You can fit kitchen cabinet hanging rail for your wall cabinets early on, and then you can hang your cabs as it becomes convenient.

Try to avoid vinyl-wrap, it peels.

You can do that thing with the bottom drawer, we did in previous house. You will have to move the handle so might need to fill a couple of holes. We put two inner drawer pullout higher up.
Cream Shaker is everywhere, have you looked for a close match?

by the door primed and paint them, we are doing in our utility only because we are have many different colour doors
but still try to buy all doors at the same time as paint ages with sun and just general age etc
