Rural and/or big house/country estate dwellers - do you have a road name? ...

because our Council has just imposed a road name on us (signs too) and I don't like it. We might get unwanted visitors if we have a proper address

Also, I am lazy, not to mention poncey, and rather like having a 3-line address.

I love my sister's address:

1 village
village
postcode

I have an aunt who lives at

1 The Square
Villagename

That doesn't sound so odd, until you go to her house, and it's in the middle of a row of 3 houses, and not in a square at all, just a bog standard road!

We have a road name but no sign is that posh enough?

BellaLasagne · 16/06/2007 10:01

Gosh no, horror of horrors.

My address is

'Very impressive' Farm
'Posh Village'
'Smart County'

Absolutely no-one can find us, even on SatNav - glorious!!

Ours is a 3 line address

House name
Village
Post code

We've recently needed an ambulance (phoned in by the gp) and on the phone she just said the main house in x village. They seemed to find it just fine, but it is a tiny village.

DH actually wants to put up the house name on the front of the house but I've been stalling by saying I don't like any of the fonts he's using... I really just don't want people finding us!!

I grew up thinking we didn't have a road name, I thought it was the area. I only found out when I was a teenager that the second line our address was a road. (It was Woodside, not Woodside Road/Lane etc.)

Reverse a tractor into the vulgar sign.

Our family farm's address is;
Villagename farm
Viilage
Postcode.

If anyone local wants to know which house I live in,I tell them it is Mrs XXXX'S old house,if anyone not local, its turn left by the pub & 3rd house on the left.

WendyWeber · 19/06/2007 21:08

There are places like that round here too but their proper postal address would be

Village Farm
Village
Nearest Town
County
postcode

I still think my grand lady in Northants wins -

House Name
County
postcode

(our Post Office database was happy with it )
