Has anyone escalated to...

... their conveyancers supervisor? Today has literally been the straw that broke the camels back. I feel like I have done more legal digging and research during this process than my conveyancer. I wanted ti persevere as it is a complex situation and I didn't want someone new to have to read up on everything from scratch. But I just feel we have hit a brick wall now with her.

But also wondering if escalating to her supervisor with only delay things further!?

My solicitor blantantly lies about something lucidicrus and unimportant really, I complained and received the most pompous letter in reply and a refund of £2 and told to go elsewhere ... which we did and completed within 4 weeks

Yikes :-/ i thubk our seller would pull out if we had to go tk another conveyancing firm. This has already dragged in for too long and he is getting annoyed.

I had something similar 12 years ago.

Complained after our Conveyancer failed to follow through on or Exchange, almost losing us both our Sale & Purchase. She was too busy on the designated day (despite the fact she had decided what the day should be)

Got a very rude letter from the Senior Partner telling us to go elsewhere.

My estate agent (I'm the buyer) called my solicitors in the end. Don't know what they said to them but there was a sudden and marked increase in speed and competence

No. But I’m considering doing so at the moment. It’s worth complaining. Do you have a solicitor or not? If so they can advise you accordingly.

I was planning to stay within the same firm but escalate to her supervisor. My EA has already been amazing and chases constantly but some of the things she has done have really infuriated me. But in a sticky situation because if we do complain and are told to shove it and we have to go elsewhere and start from scratch, the seller will not hang about :-/

@buckingfrolicks - I bet it was a "sort this out or we'll never recommend you to any of our clients again" type conversation.

OP - I'd be tempted to request a copy of the solicitors' complaints policy/procedures... you won't have officially complained, but might spur them in to action if they think you will.

It's difficult because if they're a truly bad solicitor they know they have you by the short and curlies and know that you're stuck with them if there's a fear of it all falling through.

Take a look at the SRA website for some advice - www.sra.org.uk/consumers/problems.page and consider complaining to them (perhaps once the conveyancing is complete though). And suggest to the estate agent that they might want to have a word along the lines of my comment to buckingfrolicks
