Walton or Cobham??

Hi all,
We’re looking to move to either Walton or Cobham and wondered if anyone has any advice. We’re expecting our first in March so good primary schools are key. Cobham seems really nice but Walton has better links to London. Any thoughts?

Cobham is much nicer than Walton. There is a good primary school there called St Andrew's (I think). Property is more expensive in Cobham than Walton. The train from Cobham to London is a stopping line.

Thank you. Yes we love Cobham but you definitely get less house for your money. Just trying to work out if it’s worth having a smaller house..

Both are lovely towns. Cobham is more money buoyed up by the greater number of private roads and larger number of expat rentals. Walton has fewer private roads. However, if you’re looking for commuting benefits, that’s Walton. Town centre is better for Walton including more activities for young families (including large leisure centre).
Cobham isn’t known for its good state schools. Most of the people send their children to private. There is a fabulous girls school (Notre Dame) and boys/coed (Felton Fleet) and of course ACS.

In Walton, people move to areas just get into the catchment area for Ashley School (5 star). There are 4 star in cobham. However, as not every school is right for every student, that might not be the best guide.

Have you considered of the Dittons, Hinchley Wood, Esher or Weybridge? When we moved to the area, we followed the train line and radiated walking distance from the stations (as we both commutes into the city). We have moved within these areas now three times and raised three children too. Our children went to both state and private schools.
