To corner sofa or not?!

Smallish Living room (4m x 3.5m ish)
We need space to sit 6 adults, main function to watch tv! We need to replace our current set up of big sofa, big single chair, bean bag and separate kids chair.

I'm really not sure if a corner sofa will be practical for us all to sit on, (arguments of touching each other etc 🙄) or if we'd be better getting two separate sofas. I'm worried that they will look huge within the room.

Any words of wisdom or ideas? Smile

We thought we wanted a corner sofa before we moved in. Then the owner left us their corner sofa (to tide us over) and we have decided we definitely want 2 seperate sofas. For the same reasons you have outlined really. There are just the two of us but if people come round we don't want to all be sat on the same sofa - personal space etc. We are going to get a 2 seater, a 3 seater and an armchair.

I always fancied a corner sofa but DH hates them - says they remind him of waiting rooms Confused.

I've ended up with a 2-seater sofa and a 3-seater sofa and a square pouffe thing. TBH, a corner one wouldn't have worked as one 'arm' of it would always be on the wrong wall.

We've had a few corner sofas but our lounge is huge and we easily fit avother 3-4 seater sofa in - the corner ones may have 5 seats but really only good for 3 max 4 people as the corner bit squished people - last time we also got a stool which can add an extra 'seat' which is helpful but you need to space

Thanks you. You're all confirming what I'm thinking!
Two piece it is then!!

I’m of the same mind - I fancied a corner sofa but when I looked at them they don’t actually seat as many as you would suppose without squashing. One of the attractions for me was the “chaise” bit where you can stretch out, but I don’t really have a space issue so would probably be better off with 2 x 3 seaters, one of which would have a chaise so I can put my feet up when watching TV by myself.

My main issue with corner sofas is that I like to move furniture around and I don't think our room could house a corner sofa in more than one location. I like the idea of them, and think they look great. Just not sure I could live with one.

We got a 3 seater and a footstool which makes it into a corner sofa.

Thanks to you all.
I've talked myself out of it now. We're going for two settees.

Too much potential for moaning with a corner..."He's touching me". "She's got her foot on my seat". "He won't stop wriggling". Ffs.

At least this way, me and dh can go on one sofa with the youngest kid, and leave the bigger 3 on their one. No one tells you this shit when you're knocking out babies do they?! HmmBlushGrin
