New kitchen is almost installed. We are getting vinyl floor and cannot decide what style. Anyone any suggestions. I'm thinking wooden or maybe a stone tile effect.
Door handles will be tarnished copper. And we'll have some copper accessories too.

Nice kitchen. I'd go for a stone tile effect in a lighter tone. As your cabinets are dark this will look best imo.

Shazafied · 03/10/2018 14:36

Ooh something warm (wood, sandstone) to off set the grey I think. I'd not put a grey floor down.

We have stone tiles in ours and it can be very cold. But they are hardcore - I don't worry about spills or damage. My dad has a laminate kitchen floor and is always going round wiping up anything moist as the floor very easily swells and cracks!

Whatusernamecanihave · 03/10/2018 14:40

We have a similar kitchen grey cabinets and copper handles and we have a black kardean wood effect tile laid in diagonals and it looks nice (well I think so 😂)

Shamelessly following as we r at beginning of building work and we have chosen that exact kitchen I think and I am struggling with flooring. Karndean Rose oak is all I have on shortlist so far

Kamma89 · 03/10/2018 14:57

@shazafied laminate is not the same as LVT. Vinyl looks more realistic and you can get it as wet as you like. It's warmer underfoot than stone or tile and stuff doesn't break so easily if you drop them.

@intelligent deffo go lighter to offset the grey. A light oak or ash LVT. I think a nice parquet style would look lovely!

We've just spent sooo much on this kitchen and bathroom and 2 beds upstairs that Karyn dean may have to wait a few years. We have it in living room. Lovely dark wood thin planks. But it's just not in the budget for the kitchen.
So Glad to hear I won't be wiping spills endlessly from LVT. That had me a little worried for a mo !
Yes lighter and warm feels right. Also loving the idea of parquet.
@Whatusernamecanihave can u send a pic?

Agree something warm like the wood :)

We had a leak in our utility whilst away. 2 weeks of standing water and it just mopped away off the Karndean/LVT

Baxdream · 03/10/2018 16:45

Beautiful kitchen! I'd definitely say parquet too

Baxdream · 03/10/2018 16:52

Just to add we wanted karndean too but it was out of budget. We got engineered wood. It looks lovely but I'd still have rathered Lino

CaptSkippy · 03/10/2018 16:56

I'd say go for a wood style (could by vinyl, it's cheap) and do a similar color to your counter tops. I think going length wise in the direction of the room will look nice too.

Sweetheart · 03/10/2018 16:57

I'd go with something in a black colour - the room is nice and bright so i think it can take it

carpettile · 03/10/2018 17:00

Out of the 2 swatches I like the one farthest right but I agree black might look fab too

Shelley54 · 04/10/2018 09:34

We’ve got a new dark grey kitchen and this week had oak effect vinyl put down. I love it. Best decision we ever made.

threads123 · 04/10/2018 09:54

I’ve got the same kitchen by the look of it and I put down light grey tile effect vinyl sheet as it’s a dark room. Looked nice new but it’s awful to clean and it’s yellowed quite a bit in a year. I wouldn’t choose it again

Titsywoo · 04/10/2018 09:59

I'd go for wood effect. I have wood for my kitchen floor and the colour just makes the room look warmer. Don't go for grey - too much grey in one room is horrible.

BooMare · 04/10/2018 10:01

Solid oak boards or parquet

intelligentPutty · 19/10/2018 18:46

This is what we ended up with.
Fitted just today.
Soon we can get all unpacked and back into the kitchen. !!

What did you go for? I’m in the same boat - Karndean tastes on a laminate budget!

It looks fantastic!

intelligentPutty · 19/10/2018 19:29

Thanks.
It's a laminate. Well I think that's what it's called!! It's a whole piece that they laid and cut.
Cost £370 + £160 for the levelling.
Not sure of the exact name. Charm oak something.

Can't wait to get everything back in it's proper place now.
!

Good luck choosing yours it's always tricky with these tiny samples they send.
