Bathroom inspiration

Currently having some building work done, including splitting our large family bathroom into a smaller bathroom plus an en-suite.

Have picked the suites but need some inspiration for the tiles - wall and floor. Think we're going half wall with the tiles. Was just going to go for plain grey on both walls and floor, then white walls but now worrying that we just have too much grey in the house!

Would love to see anyone who has something a bit different, or a bit of colour!!

We are in the process of turning our laundry room into a shower room and have decided to go for shower wall panels (that you can use for the whole room if you want).

You have to choose carefully as some can look cheap, but we are going for either a stone effect or my current favourite (until I get the sample, can't be sure) which is a sort of mottled copper.

You can order free samples from most places too.

Saves grouting and the resulting upkeep and is easy to fit, waterproof, etc.

Can't seem to upload a pic at the mo, so here's a link to the copper.

Obviously lots of other options to look at there for inspiration too.

I can't help you. I went 100% grey because I have zero imagination! Love it tho.

grey can look really lovely and high end with some good or copper accents if you haven’t already bought your taps and shower etc? Nice way to add colour or features without needing much colour if you’re not feeling too bold.

We did a heavy pattern in ours, with a dark sink unit and brushed brass fixtures. Very happy with how it turned out, but it is an anxious time and expensive mistake if it doesn’t turn out as nicely as you hoped!

If you do go down the snazzy fixtures route, there is also the added complication of not being able to get everything in a matching finish (looking at you, chrome towel rail), or spending a fortune on bits that do match (looking at you £80 toilet brush(!!!))

I would sign up for Pinterest and look for inspiration on the gazillion bathroom pics on there - it's great for clarifying what you like and want.

@Bingbangbingbangbong Those tiles are gorgeous. Where are they from?

@IdaBWells I have Pinterest and regularly lose hours of my life to it. It almost makes it worse because there's so much to look at!!!

@emdude

The patterned tile was from topps tiles, I think its called Berkely and they had it in a few colours. They also had the white tile in store for our half wall, but we got the same tile online at total tiles for about 4 pounds per tile cheaper.

If the bathroom is not very big be careful with patterned tiles as they can make it look cramped. We opted to keep things simple White walls with a mosaic pattern running through and darker floor. Have received many positive compliments
