A call for PigletJohn- why do new bath taps run so slowly?

Evening. So, we used to have a bath with 2 separate taps, filled the bath with a nice fast flow from both taps, filling it quickly. We had an over bath shower which was on a pump, although had been fine even before we had a pump, as was the bath tap flow (only had pump installed when an extra bathroom was added to loft room)

Now had a new bathroom. Had a shower cubicle put in (on the previous pump) and a new bath with mixer taps. Shower is great, lots of good pressure. Problem is that flow from both hot and cold bath taps is very poor - takes bloody ages to fill the bath and it's very annoying and puts us off using it. The flow to the wash basin is fine as it also is to kitchen sink etc - just bath has the issue.

Any thoughts on why? Is it to do with design of the bath taps or the piping or something else?

Many thanks.

Those monobloc mixers don’t normally have enough room for 15mm/22mm pipes. They normally have thinner flixible pipes that then connect onto the existing larger pipes.

When we bought our new build all new taps have a maximum flow rate which is put in place to reduce water usage.
