New kitchen wren/Ikea?

I live in Berkshire near Reading. We got our new kitchen design from ikea and we are ok with it but not completely satisfied because of lot of fillers and also not much of colour choice.
We thought of going to wren kitchens but very much worried about their bad reviews about customer service and bad design. Also feel that they are pushy but they have good choice of colours and units.
Looking for monthly payment options now as we do other works at home.
Could anyone please post your views and reviews about Ikea/wren kitchens or any other kitchens who have monthly payment options.

Also confused whether to go for Laminte/quartz worktop. I like quartz but way too expensive. Please share your opinions about which one is good for colour resistant. We have decided to for black worktop for kitchen.

Thanks in advance

Wouldn't touch wren with a barge pole op they have horrendous reviews and websites dedicated to how bad they are

With very upset customers

I'd stay away from wren, when we got our plans we realised they had measured incorrectly, if you don't notice this you have to pay yourself for new cupboards as it's your responsibility to make sure they've measured everywhere correctly. They had also put through completely different door fronts to the ones we had requested and got the worktop on the plans wrong three times! We gave up before we paid any money and went to howdens who have been excellent the whole way through. I hear wickes are also good and diy.

Yup Wren came bottom in a recent Which survey. I'd say Howdens or Wickes. I loved our old Ikea kitchen but there weren't enough options to make best use of space when we refitted our current kitchen.

Our IKEA kitchen has been brilliant. A hinge broke after 7 years and they immediately sent a free replacement.

Just be aware they the base units come with no space for services, so whoever fits it will have to figure that out!

TwoGinScentedTears · 30/09/2018 12:56

*that not they

SheSparkles · 30/09/2018 13:00

Ikea all the way-mine has been in for almost 11 years and has had pretty hard use and still looks pretty much new.
When it gets replaced (absolutely no plans to do so in the foreseeable future) I think it’ll be because I’m fed up looking at it rather Han because it actually needs replaced!

We have friends in the Reading area who are very pleased with their new Wren kitchen. Maybe the quality of finish depends which branch of Wren, and the fitters they use?

starbrightlight · 30/09/2018 13:07

Ikea changed their kitchen cabinets in recent years. They introduced their new range called Metod around 4 years ago, which is different to the old Ikea cabinets.

Sparklyfee · 30/09/2018 13:07

Try Howdens. There is a wren fbook group with lots of horror stories

TwoGinScentedTears · 30/09/2018 13:09

The Metod base cabinets still don't have space for services though.

starbrightlight · 30/09/2018 13:15

We used DIY kitchens for the last 2 kitchens we installed. There are good reports all over Mumsnet about the great quality and choice of cabinets (huge range of different widths) but I have to say our experience this time has not been so good.

You have to plan and install it yourself (or find a kitchen fitter) which makes it cheaper than most and for better quality.

starbrightlight · 30/09/2018 13:17

True about Metod having no space behind for pipes etc. They are more roomy though.

starbrightlight · 30/09/2018 13:18

Overall If I could have afforded it I probably would have gone to Ikea and got them to plan and install it.

cptartapp · 30/09/2018 13:25

We bought a Wren kitchen in the sale last year. DH fit it all (apart from the worktop) as the price for that was ridiculous. Only one missing part, replaced quickly and without fuss. Good quality, no problems at all.

starbrightlight · 30/09/2018 13:47

I didn't know you could fit a Wren kitchen yourself, I thought they insisted on doing it. Too late now for us but they do have some gorgeous looking kitchens.

ToBeClear · 30/09/2018 14:55

Check out Simplythenest on Instagram- they've customized an IKEA kitchen and it's beautiful

philomena15 · 01/10/2018 01:03

Thank you all for the replies. We have looked into another TQL kitchens in London. Planning to talk to them this week and confirm if we feel design and quality are satisfied. I will update here once we decide

We chose Wren. We sincerely wished we hadn't. The actual main kitchen units are good quality but the trims don't match and there is nothing you can do about it. We ended dealing with their "Director's Office" complaints dept with the aid of a friendly solicitor... and it took a year to resolve. I say resolve, what I mean is about £3k back.....

Really not worth the heartache and stress that goes along with it.
