Gap between radiator and wall for curtains

I was in a hotel this week and noticed they had hanged their rads about 20cm away from the wall using a central bracket that allowed the floor length curtains to be pulled closed behind it.

This is genius. Totally gets around the long curtain for aesthetic vs. Need for cosyness dilemma

Why isn't this a thing and if it is, where do I get such a bracket system? Can't find it online...

I wonder if the designer got sacked for putting the radiator in such a silly place.

Old hotel, I suspect making them sit out from the wall was cheaper than moving it. It was in an alcovey area if that makes a difference.

Great way of heating the curtains I'd say. I don't get the MN obsession with floor length curtains.

I hate curtains. Blinds all the way.

Great idea, not sure why the negative comments to be honest!
Obviously if you don't have curtains it's not needed and if the floor space is tight it would use valuable space, but all other things being equal it's better than having all the heat go up the neck of the curtain.

Floor length curtains make a room look better. But they then look rubbish if you squish them behind the rad or Pile them on the windowsill. And I'm not prepared to lose the heat and can't face moving the 7 rads in my 1920s bungalow that are under windows.

I have floor length curtains in the current rental, but it is a very old house, and the french doors are single glazed, so thermal lined floor length curtains that pool on the floor and allow room for draught excluders behind them. Makes the room a lot warmer.

In my own house, we only have one room where the radiator is under the window, and that is a spare bedroom. I have windowsill length curtains in there.
