Cotswold Co Chantilly White bedroom furniture

Saw an earlier post about this company but thought I'd better start my own post rather than hijack someone else's post.

Anyway, I would like to buy the single wardrobe, a chest of drawers and a bedside table from the Chantilly White range. It's for my teenage daughter and I was just wondering if it was easily scratched and whether it would mark easily. She's always taking cans of drink into her bedroom and no amount of coasters that I put in there will ever be used.

Any advice would be appreciated.

I’ve got this range in my bedroom. I love it, it’s really attractive and solid.

I wouldn’t say it’s easily scratched, but like any white furniture it will stain if you leave something on it. I’ve found mug rings wipe away, but as it’s slightly lacquered if you spilled something like nail varnish on it you couldn’t easily remove it without marking. (Mind you I don’t think any furniture would tolerate that).

You could always buy that clear glass to put on it? My DD has white Ikea furniture that I bought second hand and it has glass to protect it which works well with her makeup etc.

I second toughened safety glass tops - if the IKEA ones will fit, get them as they'll be cheaper than from anywhere else.

Thanks for your helpful reply, Sidge.

Yeah, that's another thing I have to watch with her, she's always painting her nails and isn't too fussy where she leaves the cotton balls that she uses to remove the nail varnish. Glass tops sounds like the way to go. Where did you buy your glass from?

The glass tops came with the furniture I bought second hand, but I believe Ikea do them.

Thanks wowfudge. Will have a look at the Ikea website.

Or take a paper pattern of the glass to a local glass merchant and they will make you a piece of glass of the right size and thickness.

Yes a glass merchants is the alternative, but if the IKEA stuff is the right size it's much cheaper. NB you can't have toughened glass cut down to the right size if it's too big - glass is cut to size then toughened.
