Double Belfast sink - tap position please

Hi,

I have noticed that most product photos show double Belfast sinks with the tap positioned in the triangle between the bowls. I quite like this. However in almost all kitchen photos the taps are behind the sink, on the worktop. Does anyone know why is that? Any practical implications? See photos attached. TIA

More space over the sink without needing to move the tap out of the way. If the taps are positioned in the worktop behind you can also have bridge style mixer taps if you like. Traditionally Belfast sinks wouldn't have tap holes.

Is bridge tap the same as swan neck? So you think I might regret putting it on the triangle bit? Confused

No, it isn't - the hot and cold join together in a bridge instead of in a monobloc. There are different styles available.

A swan neck tap has an inverted U shaped spout, like a swan's neck.

Oh I see, thank you. We are after a swan neck tap so might be ok mounting it on the sink, looks like this bridge one projects further.

I don't think you will find it projects further. Where you position the tap is down to personal choice, but if you were having anything other than a monobloc one you couldn't fit it in the middle of the two sinks. Traditionally the taps would have been surface mounted on the wall behind the sink and they would have been separate hot and cold, not a mixer of any sort.

We've just installed a double belfast sink and have the tap (single mixer -perhaps what is called a monobloc here?) in stalled in the sink.
We've got wooden worktops, so joiner advised not to have tap in the worktop as it would gradually rot the wood.
