Boiler question!

Sorry if this is not in the right place.

I have a boiler that heats my hot water and central heating. I normally have my hot water on timed for 2 hours early evening and this gives me enough hot water for bathes etc....

Now the cooler weather is just around the corner, if I was to set my timer to have the heating on at the same time as my hot water would it just cost me the same as just having my water on?

Sorry if this is a dippy question, I'm really having to watch the pennies at the moment and I'm trying all ways to save.

Thanks

Not dippy it's a good question - but I don't know the answer

No it would do cost more as the heat would be lost from the radiators and the boiler would keep cutting in to heat it up again.

Thanks for the replies - would it cost double?

No.

Heating the cylinder uses very little gas. If it is well-insulated, it will lose negligible heat during the day.

The amount of heat to warm your home in winter will be much greater. The colder the weather and the warmer you keep your home, the more energy it will use.

As well as the timer, what thermostatic controls have you got?

Think it's a honeywell dial in the hall.
