Twyford

Would anyone recommend Twyford or other nearby villages/towns? Have been looking at commuting on Crossrail in the future. We are looking for a place to live that is family-friendly with lots of community spirit and a 45/50 mins max commute to Blackfriars/Farringdon. We are moving from North London and, although we love the cafe culture here, we need some more green in our baby's life! We are prepared to pay a higher price for a beautiful family home to watch the babes grow up in. Would really appreciate any insight into this area. Thanks

Twyford is a nice place to live, close to Reading (great for shopping) and perfect for commuting. Nearby Wokingham is a pretty market town (in the middle of having a face-lift) though there are huge housing developments popping up in the surrounding area so the small town / village feel is rapidly disappearing.

So if your budget allows I would head north of the river to nearby Henley on Thames and have a look at the surrounding villages like Shiplake or Binfield Heath.

Henley is just a branch line away from Twyford, the train shuffles past Shiplake between Twyford and Henley so also good for commuting and with a great community ideal for bringing up a family. South Oxfordshire has lovely countryside with fewer developments though property is expensive.

Also, Henley has a vibrant café culture, and with the river and surrounding countryside it really is lovely. It has everything really.

Thanks so much. Henley sounds wonderful! I looked at Google maps to check commute times, it seems to be a 20 minute drive from Henley to Twyford station. Even with the new cross rail line, sadly I fear that commute would be over an hour door to door. Thanks again.

You can catch the train from Henley to Twyford (only takes 10 mins), then get the fast train from Twyford to London.
