Advice about cabin bed with chest of drawers under - safety?

Thinking about getting a raised bed for ds' room - it could fit over a radiator that takes up room on one wall and I'd like to put drawers under, ideally the Ikea ones we already own.

But, the drawers would need to sit out from the wall to be in line with the bed, so I couldn't attach it to the wall as I normally do.
I know loose drawers can be dangerous as they can tip over, if they are under a bed can can they still fall?
Thanks!

As long as the chest top is held in place by the bed bottom, and the bed is connected to the wall, that'll be safe - until someone decides to make a stairway out of the drawers! At which point they'll smash through the drawers, as the chest still won't be able to move.

Bit concerned about having the radiator completely enclosed though.

Thank you! I can see that drawers that came with the bed would probably be easier then, if I can't get the exact fit for my malm drawers.
The radiator would be under the bed but not behind the drawers, they would be at the top end and the radiator is further down if you see what I mean. There wouldn't be anything in front of the radiator except whatever toys are chucked in I would have it on lower than the rest of the house, it's a small room and usually very warm.

I have a midsleeper with drawers underneath, ours is slightly different as they also sit under the swing out desk but I really can't see how they would tip as the base of the bed is there.

Really bad photo but I like this one - strong enough for me to lie on too if needs be and cheap!
Thanks for the info Brick I'm guessing (I haven't seen one in person) that the height underneath is very slightly higher than the edge - a sort of lip, and that's what holds your drawers/desk in place?

That's the underneath of ours. There is a gap but not enough for the 'swing' if it fell forwards.

It goes edge of bed, desk then drawers.

Thanks, that's really helpful to see - looks like a good set up!

Have realised the bed I wanted is about 8cm too small for the radiator to fit under - really annoyed with myself! They do a taller one and I'm tempted to buy it and cut a chunk off the legs..
(The taller one has a brace all round three sides at a height that would conflict with the radiator so no good as is)

That's a good idea but think about how the ladder would work. Could you trim that too?

Our cabin's chest of drawers is a bit inclined to tip forward, though I think they would snag on the bottom of the bed eventually. I would have thought you could secure the chest to the frame with a bit of wood or strapping and a couple of screws though. You might just need to be a bit creative.

Thanks for your post. It will only be about a meter tall, I’m sure he will launch himself in even without a ladder - though I might need one!!
When I have worked out what I need I plan to hand it all over to the infinitely more capable hands of a handy person. I’d be ok at building it myself but less so the wall attaching part.

No harm in asking that supplier if they could make you one 10cm taller. It looks like they are making them themselves. They might not even charge you any more for it.

Our Thuka wasn't difficult to assemble but it did take a fairly competent DIYer almost a whole day. Hope your son loves his new bed.
