Coloured Bathroom suites...

Are apparently coming back into vogue Shock

I need to replace my bathroom and so I'm looking at lots of magazines and Instagram ideas. The new trend is for "bubblegum" and "pistachio" coloured sinks, baths and loos.

My bathroom is already pistachio green. It's so dated it's trendy again. Should I save my money and wait 20 years for white ware and beige tiles to come back into fashion again?

lighthearted

Ugh What if you want to sell your place ? Do you really think people would like a coloured suite as it is so personal. It is one thing a coloured toilet seat or even kitchen worktop as these can be easily changed but a whole bathroom suite is quite pricey

Go for it - pistachio has an air of 1950s kitsch to it.

Racecardriver · 14/09/2018 16:23

Keep it. I would sooner buy a pistachio bathroom than white with beige tiles. Just make sure that your walls and floors are up to date so it looks like you are being retro rather than just lazy.

Finally.
I hate the fact the only choice we've had for donkeys years is either white or white.

I always think that with white ware you can always tell if it's clean or not. Anything coloured looks potentially grimey IYSWIM.

If I was buying a house and didn't have enough in the budget to pay for a new bathroom it would put me off completely if the suite was anything other than white.

I'd say never have a coloured bathroom suite, they are a fashion thing and in no time everyone will be saying, "Oh no you don't have a (pink/blue/green whatever) bath, do you?".

You can introduce colours, subtly, in the tiles, blinds or whatever.

NotMeNoNo · 14/09/2018 20:48

In our first house we ripped out a disgusting caramel brown bathroom and put in a country style white one. My dad took one look and said "went for council house white then?"

White might not be high fashion but any other colour will date and you don't want that in your fixtures. Having said that my parents bathroom is a lovely 80s pale pink, probably bang on trend now!

AngloSaxonEarthenware · 14/09/2018 20:55

We've got a peach bathroom suite that was here when we moved in. I'd never rip it out just because of the colour, I couldn't bear the waste! It's in perfectly good condition.
I wouldn't purposely rip out a perfectly good bathroom due to the colour, stick with it if you like it!

We recently moved into this house and the previous owner was a bit of a DIY eccentric. He has put wooden panelling behind the bath but he's had to gouge out bits behind the taps so that they actually turn round GrinGrinGrin

Am not really a fan of the green bath.

What's wrong with beige tiles anyway?

God no. I hate hate hate coloured bathroom suites. I reckon it'll be one of those things that they try to make fashionable again but won't actually take off and buyers will still be put off any house with one. Tiles, walls, towels, cabinets, etc are the only acceptable way to introduce colours into a bathroom.
