I've got a 1930's semi with a single brick garage at the end of the garden.
I only use it for storing crap in, as although it's in good condition with a concrete floor and felt roof it does get a bit damp in there.
I am an artist and would love to convert it so I could keep frames/stock in there and have a bench for packing up the paintings etc (I have a small studio space outside the home to work in, but it's not big enough to store thing in)
How simple is this to do?
The garage already has electrics and a cold water sink. Only a tiny window, so will need more put in.
I really need it to be weather proof to keep my art things dry and safe, but also to be warm enough so I would actually use it rather than bring everything into my kitchen and doing it there!
Would I be better off knocking it down and getting a garden room? The garage is plonked in the middle of the back wall of the garden, so a garden room would look a lot nicer and make use of the space better. I could store my garden tools in a different shed.
If it could be made really cosy it would be great to be able to use it as a spare room once or twice a year for when family visit.
Anyone got experience with this? Any idea of costs?
