We are abour 2 weeks off completion and popped into solicitors yesterday with some paperwork and asked about the actual day of completion....

Is it true that you literally have the Friday you complete to get out? As in have all your stuff taken to new house by 3pm? OMG! i am going to be in such a panic!

Also is there no way of getting round the fact that, i would prefer to have carpets fitted before we start taking furniture in? What on earth am i supposed to do about this?

OMG feel the stress already lol.

In London, it recently cost us about £800 to pack and move a 4-bed house, using a professional company.
They are completely insured and experienced, etc - and very very speedy.

We moved in April '06 from a 4 bed to a 5 bed about 3 miles apart (same city, not SE) and the cheapest quote we had for removals alone (just transporting the stuff) was £900 (£1200 to pack too), the big well known company wanted £1500 (£1900 to pack). We are not a family of hoarders (quite the opposite in fact) and it was still faint inducingly ££££££

Thanks again everybody for all your help/advice.

As regards packing, we already have loads of boxes, someone on freecycle had recently moved and we got a package of boxes of them, which was very handy.

Will prob stick to doing it ourselves, dreading the packing though, best get started soon, god knows what we have up in the loft alone lol
