Electric Inspection - what do they do?

I have the Housing Association due at 8am to do a periodic electrical inspection. Apparently it will take 3-4 hours.

Obviously they'll need access to the electric meter/fusebox cupboard, but what else?

I think they check each socket for correct current/ earthing, each main appliance - washing machine, cooker etc and check the distribution board.

Every socket? Ah well, I haven't been told to prepare for that and some sockets are inaccessible (behind furniture).
Argh. Hate having strangers in the house. Maybe they'll be scared off by me trying to get the kids ready for school Wink

On an electrical installation condition report they will check every circuit including lighting, cooker, socket, they will also check physically and electrically a selection of sockets and light points etc, and they will do some tests between the ends of the circuit. They will also do tests on the incoming supply.

Thanks guys. All went well and took around 2 hours (3-4 hr estimate is for those who still have electric heating).
Electrician was lovely and we had a good natter whilst he worked. I guess it helped that I offered him a coffee within minutes of arrival Grin
