Alarm sensor and fire alarm came on flashing/beeping yesterday but stopped shortly - electric glitch?

I just wonder whether there is some electric circuit fault?

Yesterday alarm PIR low battery came up on the panel which flashes red and beeps when low batt is indicated. But I couldn't tell which PIR because none flashed when I walked past it - this normally happens with low battery.

At the same time (which is unusual to coincide) the fire alarm flashed red for a bit - normally also indicates low batt. Once I read the message on panel, beeping stopped and eventually red flash on panel stopped - since then no beeping or flashing at all, and the fire alarm also hasn't flashed since.

I wonder is anyone could advise if this is a glitch or do I need to do anything? thanks

when I tak about PIR and panel, that's to do with the house alarm (battery and mains connected).

It might be that the power supply has failed or been accidentally turned off.

The control panel may well have a Log that lists what has happened.

On mine you sign in with your PIN and press the arrows, it lists some options, when you see the one you want you press enter, then arrows to scroll through, then Exit when you have finished.

Of course yours may be quite different. Best to find the instructions.

thanks Piglet. Mine needs no password to look at the log - just says that battery is low. Sounds like nothing to worry about from what you say, i.e. power supply got back to normal.
Maybe it is low batt on both at the same time! will wait some more.

there will be a standby battery in the control panel or a connected box, that takes over running the system in a power cut. They usually issue a warning when power first fails, then an alarm or persistent bleeps when the battery is nearly flat, after several hours. the standby battery is usually a rechargeable one and lasts 5-10 years before it won't hold a charge. IME they are always replaceable when you turn off the power and open the cover. About the size of a small book or a large kitchen matchbox.

Mine changes the "ready" light from green to yellow when it is running on standby.

thanks Piglet. useful to know this in case there is a power cut. I think it actually may have been too low batteries together- will wait for more beeps.
