Blown windows

I have a double glazed bay window in my front room. Over the years three of the glass panels have blown, so they are misty and condensed.

Do I need to replace entire bay? Or can they be repaired?

Thank you

Bumping, as I want to know this....

No you can just replace the glass panel. If it’s less than 10 years old often the company will replace for free.

No you can just replace the glass. We had it done the other month and it was far cheaper than replacing the whole unsightly bay window that we have

Thanks.

They can put in new panels, with Fensa guarantee. You do not have to have the whole structure replaced.

I had 6 windows with misted glass
Got a local independent glazier to come and give me a quote just to replace the glass (he is a friend of my cousin)
I expected it to be around £1500 as windows were fairly large
Total cost was £420....
I could have kissed him
He measured one day and then came back a couple of days later
Took about an hour for him to change the glass

THanks all, that all sounds far less painless and expensive than I expected!

yes, I feel sorry for people who are led into spending £thousands on new windows and enriching the installers, when a simple swap of glass is all you need.

My DF’s a glazier and it’s really cheap just to replace a pane of glass. Bit more expensive if they’re bevelled or patterned but still loads cheaper than replacing the whole unit. As PP suggested, try to get a local, independent glazier- should be cheaper than the bigger companies.

the person who fitted mine was recommended by my windowcleaner, and I think I pay on average about £50 a pane (not very big) outside London.

I do take the sashes out myself which makes his job easier and quicker.

I had the patio doors re-done in laminated glass to make life harder for burglars. I might get the other downstairs done when it needs changing. It's more expensive, and heavier.
