Hello all,

We have finally found a property and had our offer accepted, trying to find a good, efficient solicitor to make the move as quick as possible. The house is freehold, empty and chain free, we are also chain free but keep reading horror stories of it taking ages. We are South London but happy to take recommendations from anywhere - if anyone can share any good experiences that would be great.

Thankyou!

Rhian Thomas, Storrar Cowdry. Used her last year for a property in south London, she was excellent

Thanks so much - you're the second person to recommend Storrar Cowdry so will definitely give her a ring!

Ooh hijacking this a bit OP, as I was about to ask the same thing!

How do I know I need a solicitor as opposed to a conveyancer?

Any recommendations gratefully received, I am in SE London x

I know who not to recommend! 🙄😭

Thomas Legal Group are amazing. Been so efficient and reliable throughout. Been dealing with a complicated chain and a few shitty solicitors have made me understand how lucky we've been.

We used a firm called Spratt Endicott in Banbury (we live about an hour away - it doesn’t really matter where they are based). Their price was very competitive and they were very efficient - friends of mine have used them subsequently and said the same thing. Our house purchase fell through three times and they were always supportive when they had to start from scratch again !

Been quoted 21k for sale and purchase (inc stampduty)

Without knowing the purchase price of the property you are buying, it is impossible to tell whether this is an absolute bargain, or hugely expensive.

There is often no great difference. Conveyancers just do conveyancing and won't have a law degree, but there's no particular reason why you need a solicitor.

Ha! Of course sorry. Purchase price is 600k.

Wellhereweare78 · 02/09/2018 09:51

Thanks all! We are going with Storrar Cowdry - fingers crossed it all works out! Good luck finding someone suitable MrsWhirly!

@wellhereweare78 let me know how you find them. I'm also considering them. She sounded lovely on the phone
