Has anyone does it.. does it look good... did you go over the grout with a white pen or just leave it ? Our bathroom tiles are black can't afford to replace and think if it works then painting them would transform the bathroom ...

No help here. But I am waiting with baited breath for answers. We've run out of funds for now and I can't at and to go in the main bathroom. We have lilac and powder blue powder blue monstrosities Envy

That should say *stand!

I did it to half a dozen tiles a few years ago in the loo, that were above the cistern in a previous house. I wouldn't say it looked like tiles do when not painted ie up close you could tell, but it was ok. I'm not sure I'd do it to a large space if I'm honest.

I was looking into this before as we have pink marble tiles in our bathroom - yuk. I found there are tile stickers that you can get off amazon - not on the high street, which may work better than paint. We haven't done it as we are just going to wait a year and save up to do the whole lot in one go...

I am about to paint kitchen tiles from beige to grey. Bought V33 Tile renovation tile paint.

I really want to do it but I'm anxious it will totally go balls up and am left with a crappy tile paint job Confused

Bettysnoop · 29/08/2018 11:53

@nonwonderwoman re the tile stickers, I bought some off eBay, I spent all afternoon sticking them on kitchen tiles & matching up the pattern & they looked cheap & pretty terrible. Total waste of time & money in my opinion.

serbska · 29/08/2018 12:14

I think if you REALLY hate the black tiles, you can paint them. But it will not look great. I looked into it but didn't see much evidence on pinterest / houzz of it actually getting a good finish.

I left the offending tiles and decided to live with it until can afford to replace. This was in the downstairs WC, not whole bathroom.

Bettysnoop · 29/08/2018 12:24

I will post photos of before & after when I feel brave enough to do it that helps : )

Our bathroom had ghastly tiles, so I painted them. It looked okay from a distance, but very difficult to get a truly 'tile like' finish. The paint stinks. Main downside was that in areas of damp, e.g. basin splashback, the paint peeled off quite quickly, and the tiled windowledge peeled because of damp bottomed bottles being put on it. It was okay for a quick cheap fix, but looked tatty quite quickly.
The bathroom has since been retiled and looks much better for it.

Bluntness100 · 31/08/2018 14:56

That's exactly the same as the result I got. It looked ok from a distance. It wasnt a tile like finish as such. Hence why I would be reticent to do it to a larger area. I suspect thr bigger thr area the more obviously painted they look. Tiles have a sort of depth of shine to them which is what you lose totally when you paint. It's also very difficult to get a totally smooth even finish on everyone.

cobwebsinthebelfry · 31/08/2018 15:07

They look like painted tiles, and they look scruffy IMO.

MrsPussinBoots · 31/08/2018 19:30

I used tile paint in my kitchen and it's been fantastic. Not the best finish but I can't afford anything else. The stickers have helped! Paint the grout and then fill in the middle of the tiles - easiest with 2 people. I've attached photos via the app so hope you can see them.

I nervously began painting my bathroom tiles with Ronseal tile paint. I am very happy with the results. Use a roller and apply a thin coat, work quickly as it dries quickly and only go back over any imperfections within a few minutes or you may end up taking off what you have already done. Leave it dry for 24 hours and apply another coat. Tricky to work above close to the sink and underneath and around pipework where you really need to use a brush. I used a lot of masking tape to mask off areas. I have no drips or bubbles, a really smooth finish.

HomeOfMyOwn · 02/09/2018 00:43

MrsPuss that is by far the best image of painted tiles I've seen. What paint did you use and did you use a little roller?

MrsPussinBoots · 02/09/2018 09:33

I used the ronseal tile paint and a foam roller. My mum started doing the grout lines and I went along behind her doing the whole tile. I found that you paint them and then go back as it starts to dry (2 mins later) to sort out any drips. It only took 2 coats.

MrsPussinBoots · 02/09/2018 09:34

Oh and don't touch it, it's a nightmare to wash off. Get cheap disposable rollers and trays.

crimsonlake · 02/09/2018 10:49

I line my trays with foil, which I lift out when finished so no need to clean or buy new ones.
