Converting integrated fridge/freezer space

Hi,
I've removed an integrated fridge freezer, leaving me with a lovely tall cupboard that needs fitting out.

I've seen wire basket drawers www.kitchenfittingsdirect.com/gb/shop/products?i=114836&c=6435&n=Chrome-high-line-basket.

Shall I go for a full set of drawers spaced fairly close, or leave a space below the first drawer to act as a shelf. And have a shelf at the top as well?

Any other ideas?

Half drawers half shelves. Other than the fridge this is our only place to store food and I am amazed at how much we can fit with drawers (and the right storage containers).

Thanks for the pic, Jet! What advantage do the shelves have over the drawers do you think?

At the height our shelves start it would be impossible for many people to see into drawers. Our bottom shelf is where we store cereals and crackers, and things we use every day. The shelf above has condiments some of which are too tall for drawers (although we have added a little shelf to increase the space). The top is for reserves of things we don’t need often.

Main advantage of shelves is that it’s easy to immediately see what is there on shelves (if not overly filled). Also quicker. Drawers hold more but do you need to move things out if stacked.

I have my microwave in mine so it's not on a surface.

I was thinking about that, Thanksamillion! Do you have a work surface nearby? You'd have to leave the door open while it is in use, wouldn't you? I'll need to check whether that would work for me- no worksurface and near a door...
