Hi all,

My partner and I are in our early to mid thirties and have been working in Birmingham for the last 5 years or so saving to buy a place.
We have been living in Solihull and then Moseley as renters. Obviously these places are expensive and we are both on teachers' salaries and don't really want a crushing mortgage going forward but value a home where we have access to city-life but also our own space. We've tried twice now in Kings Heath but sales have fallen through (neighbour issues and pervasive damp in survey). To be honest the Kings Heath goldrush is starting to enervate us both and we are looking at other areas that have similar benefits/residents but are less (dare I say) over-priced/inflated.
Any thoughts?

Have you tried Stirchley? Next door to Kings Heath but I imagine you'd get a bit more for your money?

Stirchley sounds like a possibility. Must research some more. I know the Dad's lane end a bit. There's also the side over by Bourneville. Any thoughts on the neighnourhood?

I'd go for Cotteridge. We've lived here for the last year (we moved from Sutton Coldfield) and I love it - not too expensive, lots going on, really fab local park and still close enough to Kings Heath/Moseley for all the stuff that goes on over that way. Plus depending where in Cotteridge you are, you're right on the border of Bournville.

I like Stirchley but crime seems to be more prevalent there and prices are getting a bit high.
