Please help with this back dormer!

The width is 5.8 and there is a beautiful view at the back.

Problem is the pitched roof underneath. It's not possible to have bi-folds or sliders across the width, which is a shame as it's crying out for it.

It looks like it will have to be 3m of bi-folds and then a window above where the point of the pitch stops.

Any other ideas to have bi-folds or sliders as wide as possible across the back without the view being ruined by a roof sticking up!

Thank you.

Not sure what you're actually asking here

Knittedfairies · 25/08/2018 22:55

I don’t understand what the question is either!

To try and get wider bi folds or sliders with the pitched roof below on first floor.

Nope. Still nothing.

nor me.

Knittedfairies · 25/08/2018 23:00

Me neither.

Well you can try, but the gap is the gap. Put a fly roof below and bingo... but you may not want that

Shutupsidney · 25/08/2018 23:01

Fly? flat.

KickAssAngel · 25/08/2018 23:03

You want to turn the little window at the top right into a big opening? Maybe even something big enough to walk through?

You'd have to take off the pitched roof, replace it with a flat roof and then make it strong & safe enough to walk on, so you could have it as a terrace.

Do you own the whole house, or is it a flat above the ground floor?

user1499523365 · 25/08/2018 23:05

Flat could be an option. It would not look great from the rear but at least I would have the view. The other option would be having 3 large windows close to each other, so compromise on floor to ceiling glass.

You're not really asking for help in a very nice way - it's a bit demanding. Hence the puzzled answers.

Have you consulted an architect?

How about a window tracking the angle of the pitched roof, a bit like in this picture.

(Obviously that's an L shaped dormer but you could butt a window like this up to your French windows on the standard dormer to have a wall of windows)

Good idea Rose. Thank you, so I have the terrace and your suggestion as possibilities maybe I could do similar to the other side to make it symmetrical.
