Curtain dilemma

Hi everyone :)

I'm in the middle of decorating my first house, which has lovely large and wide sun-facing windows in two of the bedrooms (both around 240cm wide by 130cm long, the same length of the rooms.) However, there is also very zero space for a curtain rail in both rooms. I've looked into getting blinds, but it's a real challenge getting attractive or cost-efficient. I'm a complete newbie with this, and I'd appreciate any suggestions as to what might work.

Thanks for reading this!

Wide blinds are really expensive, just been looking into this. What's the issue - no headspace or no room either side?

When you say zero space for a curtain rail, do you mean there is no wall above the window to fix the rail to? If so, you can get ceiling fix curtain tracks, like this:

Basically, there is zero space above the window (except for maybe 3-5cm.) There's not much room either side either.

Fit curtain rails in the recess and use eyelet curtains possibly. Could that work?

Twillow · 26/08/2018 10:33

You can mount most curtain poles on the ceiling or buy them specifically e.g.
www.ebay.co.uk/itm/28mm-Extendable-Ceiling-Fit-Curtain-Pole-With-Brackets-Metal-Ball-Finials-Rings-/361897543899
You could leave the finial off or find some smaller ones?

As others have said, get a curtain track and mount it into the joists in the ceiling.

YY. Ceiling fixed curtain rails, but to block light effectively you also need eyelet curtains and blackout eyelet lining (available from Dunelm).

Do not as I did get expensive made to measure pencil pleat curtains that let in light right around and get caught in the I hate you but paid so much for you trap.
