Does anyone ever let out their house for the weekend with Airbnb or whatever? Advice?

How much faff is it really? Can anyone explain to me what you have to do each time? If I offered to let the house to, say, a couple for one of the events near me (Goodwood events, for example) and shipped off to my boyfriend or parents for the weekend, what would I need to do?

It's already v clean and well equipped but is obviously my house and lived in. I'd assume it would need to be cleaned immediately before guests arrive but how much do you need to erase yourself? Do you have to clear all your cupboards and drawers? What about the food cupboards?

What about insurance and will your mortgage provider allow it?

Also what will you do with your stuff? Won't it be weird having cupboards full of clothes? Personal items?

I stay in a lot of air bnbs
Generally no to food being left and if you are leaving stuff in cupboards etc let them know as often it means they can’t unpack etc

Okay, thank you all - I think I had somehow come up with the idea that it was a bit like a house-sitting arrangement but instead they pay you. Really can't be arsed to empty cupboards every time so think perhaps the life of an Airbnb person isn't for me. Too lazy by half!

I've stayed in AirBnbs that are people's part-time homes and full of stuff / clothes / toys / food... incredibly trusting IMO.
I suspect you won't get the premium price that you might for an empty home all set up for holidays - and neither will you attract premium clients (you might end up with people you'd rather not have in your home). I wouldn't do it. Don't think it's worth the worry and hassle for the odd weekend.

I hope you'll be paying tax on the income too (if you are a taxpayer).
