Chimney breast removal

I’m just studying the plans of the house I’m buying. I can see that the chimney breast has been removed on both the ground and first floor (loft conversion on floor above). Do I need to make any enquiries about whether the chimney has been removed or, if not, what type of support is there to hold it up? Survey hasn’t been done yet so they will hopefully pick up on it too.

Yes you need to know if the stack has been removed from the loft and if not if it's braced up there properly, your solicitors should pick that up really but drop them an email so they can ask in the preliminary questions 👍

Brilliant. Thank you. You’ve given me the right lingo to use with the solicitor. Makes me sound like I know what I’m talking about!

Ooops not sure why that appeared twice 😊

And make sure they had building regs sign-off; it might not bother you if they haven't and you're confident it's been supported but could be extra hassle if you sell on.
