Soundproofing

Hi,

We've just bought a house which we love, however it's quite a noisy 'semi-detached' (I'd say it was a terraced house but DH insists it's not as there is a alleyway Hmm) and the walls seem to be paper thin.

Both of our neighbours are absolutely lovely, but they're really loud!
One side is stripping their entire home and doing lots of building work (not to mention they're very loud in the bedroom) and the other have 4 noisy and lively children who are always fighting and running up and down the stairs.

My question is, is there any way I can soundproof either side of my house? The loud sex/building work neighbours wont be at either forever (she's quite pregnant so it'll be a different crying I imagine 😂) so they bother me less.

Thanks!

You can get thick layers of insulation board to apply to the adjoining walls but it will make your room smaller and can cost a bit if you get it done professionally. Earplugs would be cheaper!

I have a look at the boards, thanks for that, It'd mainly be up the hallway, which is their adjoining wall, so I'm not as fussed about it taking some width.
I'm hoping I'll be less of bothered once they go back to school, or that I'll adjust to it all, it's just difficult working with that noise.

We had a semi-detached, and mouse like elderly neighbours for 2 1/2 years previous to buying this place, so a part of me thinks maybe I've been spoilt. Sad

Wood fibre insulation.
