Gilding/slivering a grey gloss bannister

We have just bought a newly (horribly) renovated Victorian house. ALOT of grey including the top of the bannister. I am painting all the walls bright white this week but would rather not have glum grey gloss on the handrail.
As a short term measure how could I turn the grey a bit silvery. I don’t mind if it ended up looking distressed (doesn’t have to be immaculate smooth silver). Could I spray with car aerosol or enamel paint? Or could I rub on some sort of highlighting?
Long term we will get rid of all the grey, marble and beige carpet but just trying to make it less corporate bland atm.
Thanks!

Well, I think I have found the answer- at Wilkos ! Sharing in case it is useful for anyone else.
And they have a chalk type paint for underneath too.
Next step is having a wall size piece of sheet metal cut and painting it into a blackboard. Happy times.

You can get magnetic paint if that's what the metal is for - a huge piece of metal will be expensive, heavy and potentially have very sharp edges (I've worked with the stuff). Better to have a large blackboard and a separate magnetic board imo.

Btw, that tin of silver paint is only 125ml.

You can buy magnetic paint to paint a piece of wood with.

Good spot on the size of tin. May rethink. Thanks! I read the sheet metal tip here as posters said the magnetic paint was a bit disappointing. It is an outside wall but good point on sharp edges. Will have another think. Thank you

IKEA sell a magnetic board for £10. You can group them together for a larger surface area.

There is alot of Ikea action in my immediate future (see my other threads on pax etc. if you are v bored) so that works well. Thanks
