Chester areas

I’m moving from Leeds to Chester in the next few months and looking to buy a property. I am lookingfor advice regarding areas to live in Chester. I have a budget of upto £360k. Does anyone know if Great Boughton is a good area? I have my eye on Hoole, Upton, Rowton also. I do not drive so busstops nearby with frequent buses to chester town centre is ideal. I looked at Tarvin too and there seem to be buses every hour to chester but i am worried about future saleability of the property as hiuse prices in this area hdon’t appear to have risen by much-do correct me if I am wrong.

Hoole sounds best for you. You can walk into the centre.

Are you wanting somewhere where you can walk into the city? I’d say Boughton is fine, I lived in Chester for a number of years and it seemed ok - I’d say Hoole is better, and Upton even better. I think personally I’d choose Hoole - walking distance to the city, but has it’s own little area of lovely shops.

Cross posted - two votes for Hoole there!

Thanks for the reply. It doesn’t necessarily have to be walking distance as long as there are frequent buses into chester, I’m fine with that.

Great Boughton is a bit of a non-area. The problem with Chester is that apart from the centre, there is not much else. Hoole is nicest, imho and is closest in.

Most other cities have some nice local centres away from the city centre. Chester is sadly lacking in this respect, apart from Hoole, which I think is what makes it desirable, together with its leafiness, pleasant architecture, and accessibility.

Definitely go for hoole with that budget, slightly further away from the centre of hoole where houses are smaller terraces is lovely. Good shops and park as well as lots going on and close to town. Tarvin is lovely but a bit of a trek especially if you don't drive. Chrisleton and mickle Trafford are lovely and slightly easier to access than tarvin.

Hoole and Upton are both nice.
Tarvin is quite a trek.

Another vote for Hoole

Handbridge - you could walk in.
