We moved house 6 months ago and are gradually updating it with fresh paint etc with a view to replacing carpets and the kitchen in the next couple of years. Happy to live with it all in the meantime but ultimately they will both need replacing as they are knackered as well as dated and not our taste.
The bathrooms though are functionally fine so we are not planning to start from scratch but i would like to tweak them where we can. The question is what can we do to the following:
- Main bathroom has beige marble effect tiles on four walls up to about 1 foot below the ceiling which is painted white. Not what I would have chosen but its fine. The problem is the flooring. Its a quite an orangey reddy wood effect possibly lino. It just does nothing for making the room seem bigger and just clashes with the tone of the tiles. Can I paint it? what else can i do that isn't going to cost a bomb?
- red mosaic style tiles - anyone actually painted tiles and had it look better?
a very odd lino tile which looks like it has raised dots but is actually flat. a bit like industrial metal with rivets (hard to describe) could we put some lino over that?
also in there is some formica type shelve above the loo and behind the sink. Does chalk paint work on that?
I'm giving up on the gloss black marbly floor tiles that are elsewhere...
