So I am now in the foggiest fog when it comes to our kitchen.. the layout is decided but when it comes to colours, knobs and handle colours, etc I am dithering like a big ditherer.
I am drawn to the whole Hague blue and grey combo....it it cropping up every time I visit Pinterest but I would really love it if those of you who have had new kitchens recently could post some inspo pics of your actual kitchens for me to try to get to grips with what I actually want.
I have attached 2 images of potential colours mixes. Would also love some feedback on those too. Thanks. My DH has ruled out having all the units dark.

If you go to the Diy-Kitchens website, they have hundreds of photos of customers kitchens.

We went for 'Charcoal' instead of the dark blue. Thought it would be too dark to use on the tall units though, so went for an off white.

Thanks parkview I love the wall of units, they look similar to my plan. Looks like you have all knobs, no handles? How do you find opening say the fridge or freezer or tall cupboard with a knob?
frogfairy I have spent hours on the diy website but still have not had that lightening bulb moment of clarity with regards to my own colour scheme. It is seriously driving me, and all around me, potty I think!

Photos aren't great cos it's not finished yet. We deliberated but ended up going for light grey. Then we have navy & pink accessories (sofa etc). Love the grey & navy combo for cabinets but like you say it's all over pinterest & I just thought it might be of its time (which I know light grey is too but I don't know I just figured it's a bit less distinctive).

Love yours sdaisy26 So my census results...made up from collaring anyone who is near... seem to be leaning towards the grey all round the outside with the darker island.
I'm going to have to bite the bullet soon, although I have been saying that for months!!!!

Hi @bobkat - no issues at all opening the fridge/freezer with the 'knobs'. The only problem I have is that my mind sometimes plays tricks on me and I try to open the doors by the 'bottom knob' which invariably means I get whacked in the face by the top of the door ;)

DustandRubble · 02/08/2018 08:43

I love the darker island. I really wanted that but was vetoed. I know the blue/grey thing is very now but it is also a good combo. It’s not like avocado bathroom suites, which were never a good idea.

As I lost the fight on blue we painted a wall blue instead. And I did the mid grey & yellow tiles which is equally likely to date!

DustandRubble · 02/08/2018 08:45

sdaisy your kitchen is lovely!

bobkate we went for all handles and it took me a while to get used to it. I do find handles a lot easier than knobs though. I always struggle to open my in-laws fridge because they have a little knob on it.

Bezm · 02/08/2018 08:54

Mine is cream with knobs on doors and cup handles in drawers. Grey tiles for splash back and grey stone floor tiles. We have a red patterned settee in the back end and a red rug which brings colour. I wanted a kitchen that wouldn't date too soon, and the ability to make changes via furnishings.
Ignore the green wall, that's before we decorated 😂

Lovely kitchen! How does anyone ever choose when everything looks so nice?

DustandRubble · 02/08/2018 09:53

Ours. Mid grey, granite & walnut worktops. Colour from the splashback.

You have to think about your space. Our kitchen area had no windows, so we knew that having darker doors, which I really wanted, would make the space feel even more gloomy, so opted on cream to bounce light around. We didn't want ultra modern gloss as out house is a Victorian cottage. Over the years we have had several kitchens in different houses, and realised that ultra on trend can very easily date it. I weed a kitchen that will still look good and on trend before it wears out.
(Kitchen from B+Q btw)

This is my Howdens kitchen. It’s navy blue with a corner walk in larder and matt white quartz worktops.

Thanks all - such fabulous kitchen. I have such envy of those who have chosen well! DustandRubble exactly!!! Everything always does look fab - it makes it so hard to choose.
Bezm what is making it hard at the mo is that we have a temporary stud wall going across the width of our open plan space so the back of the room, where the units will be, is looking so dark at the mo. I just can't imagine what the light will be like with the wall gone.
I think I'm leaning towards the mostly light grey with a darker island, rather than having the extra base units on the dark colour as well. Mainly because I feel that is playing it safe. I suppose some of me doesn't want to play it safe but I'm too chicken to for a leap of faith on colour!

We have a charcoal island with light grey units. Photos not very clear but we have knobs - in the centre of each cupboard door and then the run under the window is 90cm drawers and we have 2 knobs on each. I didn't want a mix of handles / knobs.

I love love love the dark blue. My kitchen is 2 years old now but I'd have blue if I was ordering it today!

Ooh I want I lovely kitchen!!

cujo · 02/08/2018 14:55

I love the navy blue/grey combo but personally am worried it will date as it’s a very 2015 - 2020 colourway. How about a neutral dark taupe colour with lighter upper units?

bobkate · 02/08/2018 15:00

Thanks all - you've made me doubt myself less! It's possible that we won't be able to reuse our wooden worktops on the side as the sink size has changed and slightly moved position, so we may have white across the board.
I think we'll go lamp room grey in the norton and then a dark for the rest. Just got get the testers and re submit for the quote.
I'm so tired today - DH is at work and the builders keep asking me things. Having said that, I'm so grateful that they are so nice to have around. I can't imagine going through this upheaval and feeling like I want them to bog off if they come near me!!
