Living next door to a pub

I have lived next door to this pub for several years without problems however over the last few years there have been some changes in use and now I have their bins directly outside my front door so all I hear in the bin lids being slammed and the clicking of bottles being thrown into the recycling box several times a day. Although it is still a pub and business they are using domestic wheeliebins and recycling boxes which are collected by the council with the residential collections. Surely that can't be right?

Have you spoken to them?

Is there accommodation above it? Is it the managers flat?

Commercial rubbish collection companies often use wheelie bins now. They are a smaller option to the big metal bins, and are cheaper.
Best thing to do- if it’s a pub owned by a big company, send a nice email saying you live next door, never had any problems etc however you’ve noticed the bins have moved and are now very noisy.
If a small pub, not a managed house, pop in and ask to speak to the manager. Don’t do this at lunchtime, after 7pm, and definitely not on the busiest Saturday of the year or Sunday lunch.
Mention the above.
Easily sorted.

On another note, pubs generally don’t put glass in bins after 9pm if they’re in residential areas. It’s aN unspoken agreement. Black bags/recycling go in at any time otherwise you’d have pests. But glass then gets emptied around 10am depending on what time the pub sets up for the morning and needs the bins back to put under the bar.
