New bathroom not sure what to do

Hi

I have bought a house recently and having moved in, I am not happy with the bathroom and would like a new one.

But eventually (even the window ledge) has tiles.

Do I have to have all the tiles removed and redone in order to have a new bathroom suite?

If so is it best to have it all done again in tiles, or just around the bath/ sink and have the rest plastered?

Thanks

Our bathroom was a bit like that - all round the window was tiled, and the two walls where the suite is are tiled floor to ceiling. All the tiles were removed and replaced (with new)in their original positions. The advantage is it makes cleaning a lot easier re splashes etc. Our en- suite has far fewer tiles - just for the shower enclosure, and some above the baisin, and I wish I had had more done because I have got water splashes on the painted walls. Despite wiping down the walls regularly they still show.

I would dig deep financially and have all the tiles replaced. I have fully tiled with large format (600x400) and if you go with this size it’s a modern finish. The bath is freestanding and we have a wall of cupboards and a very large sink with storage under it that breaks up the totally tiled look. However, around the shower and behind the bath and loo the tiles are invaluable. I felt paint would make it look “bitty” and not luxurious or chic.

You could consider wooden boarding that you can paint with an eggshell that is more water resistant than ordinary paint. We have this is a bathroom too. The other way to break up tiles is to put a huge mirror behind the sink.

Thank you. Looks like I need to save up for a bit longer. Which is a pain, but will be worth it in the end.
