Wow! Being held to ransom!

So far this purchaser has demanded we remove various things from the garden. Some of which we agreed to, others not. She sent a list of questions over via the agent not the solicitors, all of which should have been done by the solicitor. She demanded (and didn't get) a map of where the sun hit the garden at various times during the day. She expected us to remove fitted wardrobes and shelves because she doesn't want them. She has been back more than once to look over the place with builders/decoraters etc. She offered a ridiculous price and finally got 15 grand off, quickly followed by another three agreed to keep the chain going. And now she's refusing to sign contracts until we let her in to measure up where her fucking furniture is going. I am extraordinarily close to telling her to piss off and putting the house back on the market. Aaarghh!

Any news @Gilead?

Gilead · 19/07/2018 17:55

Apparently she has signed contracts and all is quiet, so fingers crossed for exchange tomorrow or Monday!

Thank you!

Hopefully that's made her see the light!

Gilead · 20/07/2018 15:39

Obviously not. Telephone call from solicitor today:
Erm, can you confirm that you've agreed to remove the shed, the cooker and the dishwasher.
No. She can fuck off. Dishwasher on inventory and she's already been told the cooker is built in. She asked for the shed to removed yonks back, we said No.
So, here we go again.
I will be spending the weekend readying the house to go back on the market.

Obviously you are happy to exchange on basis previously agreed? She sounds a peach btw.

See if you can get it back on tonight or tomorrow. She'll then have to sweat until Monday before she can contact her solicitor should she decide to stop mucking around.

What a pain in the arse.

Gilead · 20/07/2018 15:59

I shall exchange on the basis that everything goes ahead per the original agreements. I shall not be taking further reductions or further instructions.
We shall see.
The estate agent is supporting me.

🤞

ICanOnlyLaugh · 20/07/2018 16:18

Good for you. I mean FFS. We bought a house that had a dilapidated shed we didn’t want. We just pulled it down ourselves and disposed of it. It’s not such a buyers’ market that you can go around making nonsensical demands.

If you’d said yes she’d have come up with something else as well.

Gilead · 20/07/2018 16:31

Ican, she's come up with enough and yes, we did one or two things to ease things, but no more! Definitely taking the piss now!

Gilead · 23/07/2018 12:11

So, she thinks she's let us stew over the weekend. She hasn't. I have become extraordinarily detached from this process. However she has told agents she won't exchange unless she gets to measure. We know damned well she wants to have a look to find fault and get further reductions. So an email has been sent, very reasonable stating that she can come after exchange and that's the final offer.

Add grist to the mill by asking the agent to let you know when they can come and take updated exterior and garden photos as you assume the stupid arse buyer is going to pull out now.

Twodogsandahooch · 23/07/2018 16:37

Agree with the others. She knows whether she wants to buy your property or not. Anything action on your part is unlikely to change this. It might however get things moving towards exchange, stop her from knocking you down by any more. Stand your ground.

ReginaBlitzkreig · 23/07/2018 16:38

Yep. Give this woman some competition for the honour of buying your house.

At this point I'd call her bluff and put the house back on the market.

If your EA is supportive then they will re-list it so she can see it on the website but agree not to allow any viewings for 48 hours to see if she sees sense or not.

AnyaChristinaEmmanuellaJenkins · 23/07/2018 18:51

hows it going?

NWQM · 23/07/2018 19:02

We were held to ransom recently with a buyer making last minute demands even though they messed up the exchange / completion date. Some of it involved a small amount of stuff left by tenant in the attic and they had been a week late with completion costing us extra cash they apparently couldn’t manage to take it down to the bins. Some people are amazing! And that was just the last story. We were particularly annoyed as the agent encouraged all the demands.

flatwhiteplease · 25/07/2018 13:05

Hope she's seen sense op?

wowfudge · 25/07/2018 13:54

@Gilead - are you any further forward with your impossible buyer or back on the market?

Gilead · 25/07/2018 14:18

Sorry, been busy. At the moment I actually have absolutely no idea what's going on. I got told on Tuesday that I was due to complete on Friday. This was from the agent above, NOT my solicitor. Called solicitor who knew nothing about it and pointed out that we still haven't exchanged. So someone threw a strop and said they'd pull out. To be honest, I'm just letting everyone get on with it and I'll wait it out. Let someone else blink first.
