I'm looking for opinions really; I've just had a surveyor out to do a home report (Scotland) prior to putting it on the market. It's a lovely, 2 bedroom tenement flat in a popular part of Glasgow where property is selling very quickly. It's in excellent condition, so much so that the surveyor said when he first arrived that it will likely sell in a matter of days. However, during the survey he then found some minor damp in a few of the walls. It's not visable and doesn't smell damp. He also said that it must be very minor as there hasn't been any structural damage to the property (woodwork, joists etc). He is putting it down as a 2 rather than a 3 on the report. It was a bit of a shock to me as we've never had any problems that might suggest damp. The previous owners had a damp course put in on two of the walls around 10 years ago.
I'm now really nervous that this will put off potential buyers. I'm going to get a quote for the cost of fixing it and include that as part of the info provided along with the home report. Let's say it would cost £2000 to fix, would this put you off buying an otherwise cracking property?? are there any other things I can do to ease the minds of people considering it? Thanks!
