Can someone advise me on the duette blinds and do they work keeps heat in winter / heat in the summer?
I already have the new glass but it’s still very hot in the summer and very cold in the winter , I have underfloor heating , I would love to replace the roof with a tiled one but it’s out of my budget !

Yes they do villageshop. We had a quotes ranging from as little as £4.5k up to £10k! Our conservatory isn’t huge and our garden is small so a fancy glazed gable end would be wasted money.

Several of my friends have had solid roofs done and they are all thrilled with the results. That’s what prompted us to change ours.

That's good to know, mumtomaxwell. I hope ours turns out as well but it's all gone quiet since we paid the deposit which is a bit worrying. But I've been a bit tied up with window issues (see other thread) so I haven't been thinking about the roof too much. This house renovation is taking its toll....!!!

Villageshop hopefully silence from them means no issues. Good luck with the project. Is it a new home you have moved into and now doing some work to it?

Dh raised a point that has now got me thinking; that's the issue we had not thought about with the conservatory was how long will the doors and windows last with new roof on? His worry is that we get the new roof only to find that rest of it is starting to look tired. I had thought about this but I haven't seen anything on the conservatory frame itself that shows it's getting tired. The argon filled windows are all still very pristine. What do you all think of this with regards to yours? Is this something you have looked into?

We’ve replaced the doors because one was going misty, but having brand new doors hasn’t made the rest of the 11 year old windows look dreadful! We have a solid wall on one side then the end wall and other side are half height so I think they’re quite sturdy! My friend said two workers were able to just pick up their roof and lift it into place.

Work starts Wednesday..... so excited!!!

Good luck, Mumtomaxwell, I'm sure it will transform the space especially in this heat!

Good point, Notyetthere about the old doors with new roof conundrum. Yes, we moved into a 60s bungalow a few weeks ago. Doing the whole place up. We looked into replacing what seemed like perfectly good frames / conservatory windows but it was too expensive and we're happy with the ones we have so are going ahead with the roof anyway. I think we'll be dead by the time the frames give in, though like MumtoMaxwell we are having a door replaced because of misted glass. Luckily that gives us the chance to put a cat flap in.

We had a nightmare time with new windows and an incompetent fitter so are nervous about the roof, though we've chosen a different company. Keeping our fingers crossed!

Wow, what a transformation already. It's looking great. Still waiting for news of ours, they're calling back today to confirm a few details and arrange a date for the work.
