Greenhithe - a good move?

Hi

Me and husband currently live in enfield but we have found a beautiful 3 bed house house in ingress park, greenhithe with balcony views overlooking the River Thames it is a big move especially because we don't know the area. What are nurseries & schools like? Any good ones?

I work in central london as well so I'm also thinking of the commute, what are rush hour trains like?

But just wanted to hear from anyone who currently lives in greenthite or surrounding areas is it a safe area? Or does anyone think we should move there?

What are people's opinions on that side of Kent is greenhithe nice?

Any advice truly appreciated. Thanks

They are building a massive theme park to rival the likes of Disney land right near Greenhithe (blue water). Personally for this reason I'd love to move there and have lived there in the 80s so it was a bit different then. Not sure what it will be like traffic wise when the theme park comes ?

There isn't much in Greenhithe apart from Bluewater and a big supermarket. I'm not sure about schools/nurseries. However it is well connected to the countryside/beach via the A2 and M25.

Trains take an hour to Charing Cross but there might be quicker connections from nearby Dartford you could look into. Thameslink running from Greenhithe too but unreliable at the moment.

Thanks for getting back to me lillypainter
Yeah we know about the theme park it's due to be completed 2023 which sounds amazing as we currently have two little ones so having that around the corner would be awesome, my husband thinks it should increase house prices in the area too especially if we wanted to rent it out too. So long term looks good

I have lived in Greenhithe many years. Most of it is good, straight train to London and to the South. Bluewater a big plus

Traffic can be bad, especially when the Dartford Crossing is closed or busy. It’s a grammar system for secondary schools, which may or may not be a bonus depending on your perspective. Like much of Kent, the non-selective secondary options can be uneven.

I used to live near Dartford (though not in Greenhithe). My perception of Greenhithe is that it’s pretty soulless.. bluewater, Asda, lots of busy roads. Constant traffic jams, especially when there’s a problem with the Dartford crossing. I expect traffic will only get worse with the new theme park. Dartford itself is pretty grim.

We moved back up to the lovely North Grin

@Hellywaigo Saw your post about moving to Ingress park. We are sort of in the same situation and looking at properties in Ingress park. Have you moved to Ingress park ?

Hellyadew · 31/05/2022 11:56

Yes the best decision we made. It’s a lovely area and definitely a community feel. The kids enjoy the walk on the Thames, the woods at the backs, the green in the abbey very family oriented I think we will struggle to move
