Your tips please for painting new deeply-faced anaglypta

For a bit of fun, I'm going to 'face' the uprights of my stair-treads with anaglypa & then paint them. I'm not worried about durability, there's only me at home. Have you got any tips for getting the paint into all the nooks & crannies in the paper design?

Should be fine if you use a paintbrush rather that a roller.

I've just repainted a similar wallpaper and would say take your time - I was covering a previous colour we didn't like and annoyingly bits of the old colour show through and you have to go back over it. If the space is big enough to use a small roller in the central sections, use a medium pile roller sleeve and paint slowly and steadily. It will drive you mad with all the cutting in! Buy some knee pads.
