Wet underfloor heating with carpet and running costs?

We are looking at underfloor heating for our extension but DP is concerned about how it would work with 80/20 wool carpets rather than tiles or a wooden floor. It will be wet rather than electric underfloor heating that is installed. I've read that you should have less than 2.5 tog but I've never gone shopping for carpet based on tog values before!

We have also seen estimates of 25% cost saving against using radiators but wonder if this is realistic if based on the rooms only being heated for a couple of hours a day.

Can anybody share their experiences please?

Hopeful bump?

We've done this with an 80/20 wool carpet and it works fine - just make sure your fitters know you've got underfloor, as there's a special underlay for it, which is a bit pricier than a standard one.

Our underfloor is zoned for each room, so is only on when the individual room thermostat tells it to heat up, and seems very efficient. (Hard to tell on running costs just yet because we had a leak in a boiler hose and lost about 200l of heating oil Sad )

That's good to know Kevin - bad luck about the leak Sad

Hallo, I know this is a bit of an old thread, but Just wondering whether anyone has wool carpet over wet underfloor and has some wisdom to share? would be for bedrooms.
Noted advice re low tog underlay and carpet.
Am wondering whether artificial backing is a melty / offgassing problem whenever it warms up.
do you like yours?
thanks
