I am about to start the bathroom refurb but I am still unsure about the layout. I will have 4 piece suite with separate bath and shower. Shower has to stay where is it but I am not sure where to put the bath. The designer suggested on the wall opposite to the shower but that will create a bit of space with very limited access to the corner between the bath and the shower. So I thought it would be better to put the bath on the same wall as shower and then have some spare space next to the basin, which I am not sure how to use yet. I attached both layouts. I would appreciate your advise which one is better and why.

Many thanks!

Does the toilet have to stay were it is because of a soil stack ?

Is the bath a freestanding with legs type ?

Where are you going to store stuff ? (Or maybe this isn't the main bathroom ?)

Me, I'd centre the bath under the window and if it's free standing put a towel rail or radiator (couldn't see these on your plan) at one end and maybe a laundry basket, storage, something at the other or leave it wonderfully uncluttered. I would prefer to have something around the sink (where do you out your toothbrushes, lotions, potions) - we have a double sink (only one bathroom) with big drawers underneath but only because our sink and toilet are on different sides of the room. Our bath is also boxed in to present flat surfaces for bubble bath, plants, somewhere for the tap and shower head to rise out of etc (not keen on the exposed plumbing look of free standing baths).

My two cents

We’re also just about to start a refurb with 4 pieces

I found visiting some show rooms helpful, seeing the rooms set up made me think about layout and reinforced my decision to have our bath under the window with the shower on the same wall at the end

Pinterest was also helpful to visualise ideas

The toilet has to stay because of the soil stack and the shower too as it wouldnt fit anywhere else.

I could go for a free standing bath but I have one at the moment and dont really like it.

I like the idea of having bath and shower on the same wall, plan 2, but then I am thinking the designer has much more experience so he knows better!

I do think the bath needs to be central on that wall

Many thanks for all your responses. I guess I need to rethink my approach.

I just wondering what makes you think it will be better if the bath is central under the window. For some reason I struggle to see it. I will ultimately get 45cm on each side between edge of the bath and wall. I will be difficult to use it properly unless I am missing anything here?

For me you open the door and expect the feature to be central. What will you do with the space ?

Our room is longer with the door to one side so the bath will run from left to right with the shower cubicle in the right hand corner

The door is right hand corner facing the shower and the toilet vanity will be opposite the bath

Plumber seems happy with the layout
