What's the shortest distance that you'd describe as a relocation?

Would you describe a move that is 35 miles away and into a different county as a relocation?

No, that is a normal commutable difference

Any move is technically a relocation

"The action of moving to a new place and establishing one's home or business there."

Yep. I’m considering relocating a similar distance and seeing as I’ve always lived in my village it feels like a major upheaval. I know nobody there. They talk funny as well. Grin

Yes.

If it’s far enough to require new schools, hairdressers, cleaners, favourite shops, hobby clubs etc, then it’s a relocation.

Although that definition won’t necessarily wash with HR negotiations.

Yes. Been there, done that.

I was working for a utility company and head office moved to new premises in the next city. My job involved providing on call cover overnight and at weekends for the control room. I had to be within 15 miles and less than an hours travel to provide that cover. My house move was a relocation of 10 miles.

It's connected to a whole new city, in a new county and would def require new schools etc.
