Are dishwashers easy to install?

Looking at buying a dishwasher.

Quite like the look of a Miele one, but the shop doesn't do installation.

Are dishwashers easy to fit? I'm not very much of a handy person, nor is DH.

you'll need to plumb it in to the cold water supply and connect to to the sink outlet, plus a power socket. If none of these are already available you'll need to get them installed.

Are you replacing an old one and the plumbing is satisfactory and in the same position? If yes, then it simply attaches to the existing plumbing and electricity supply.

If no, and you are not fond of plumbing, ask around for a recommended local plumber. A wrinkly one is often best. Fitters employed by the dishwasher shop are not usually skilled plumbers.

Built-in appliances are much more work and expense to fit, and also to remove for repair or replacement. Freestanding appliances are easy.

Thanks
It would be a freestanding dishwasher.
I have no idea what is behind the vendors current dishwasher at present.
Will get the keys in a few days, and they are taking their dishwasher with them.

If there is a dishwasher there already it’s very easy. I think I found a thread on here telling me how?! Definitely don’t need a plumber. (I think we might have been cheeky and asked the John Lewis people who installed our washing machine to check it!) (could have done that ourselves too!)

Should be easy, the main thing is make sure the end of the water supply thing is clean and tighten it enough so you don't have a leak. The other thing is make sure the drain hose is well attached and that it goes down into the sink outlet. If it runs up hill the dishwasher works fine but the sink waste will run into the dishwasher when you empty it

Can you buy it from somewhere else?

Warning on John Lewis. If the piping is off the sink, they no longer fit. They didn't warn me about it last time I had a new washing machine, but when the men turned up they wouldn't do it (though I'd had it done 4 years beforehand). Due to claims. I think it's because John Lewis is a big company, they get more claims for stuff. I did get a refund on the installation cost but paled into insignificance compared to getting a plumber in who fitted it and with running it through wash cycles to test for leaks was 2-3 hours...

If you're near London or Surrey, Molesey Refrigeration Centre were recommended to me.
