What is with bathrooms with no storage?

I've just moved from a house with no bathroom storage, into a house with no bathroom storage. As has my friend who's just moved into a new build.

WTF is that about? Don't builders/ developers think we need somewhere to put stuff? Pedestal sinks are a waste of space. I sued to have a crappy freestanding cupboard with a cutout for the pedestal sink. It was shit.

I agree.

After 15 years we finally change our bathroom and we now have storage in our bathroom.

Although it not just bathrooms most houses don't have storage or space to put storage in.

I'm with you. We have no storage, well we're using a flimsy plastic tower rack until we can work out what will be the best solution.
Sinks should have fitted cupboards under them, in my uninformed, non-expert opinion anyway.

I totally agree.
I moved to a house that had an original master bedroom with a hilariously tiny ensuite. The family bathroom was OK, and we put an Ikea cupboard in to hold the children's toiletries.
The clincher was the 5th bedroom extension that came with a proper bathroom. We have great storage for cleaning products, and all of the other bottles/jars/meds that had previously taken up bedroom space.
It was a huge benefit for us.
It's infuriating that new builds generally don't consider bathroom storage.
My DD has the old master (I'd have loved that at 16!)
Suits one person with the teeny toilet and shower cubicle. I'd struggle to make it work for 2 people!

It’s probably a cost saving though isn’t it? Our sink has only cost me £100 but the cheapest vanity I could find was £500 and there were others over a £1000

I hate bathrooms that look like kitchens though. And as for those cupboards with a sink and a loo sticking out..ugh!

Clutterbugsmum · 17/06/2018 08:44

I agree Lapsed, which is why when the plumber asked what I wanted I said just a simple white cupboard with a basin. He was surprised because 'everyone' wants the wall of cupboards including basin and toilet.

I'm selling our house with the best bathroom ever - so much built in storage.... new place is a better house but I won't have the bathroom storage, sigh....
