I keep on reading conflicting info on the paint to water ratio for mist coats on newly plastered walls! I have 4 bedrooms and ceiling to paint and don't know what to doooooo!!!!! Can anyone help??? Confused
Oh and if anyone can recommend which brand of paint to go for that would be really helpful too!! According to my research it says go for a true matt paint not a vinyl...

Dulux Trade Supermatt - it says on the tin how much to dilute it for mist coating. It's not durable so you will need to put a topcoat of you chosen paint over the top. It can be messy - less so with a brush than a roller.

I like quite a lot, 10% to 20%, and cheerfully apply a couple of mist coats, it soaks in and disappears in no time. When the wall stops sucking the paint off your brush, and starts looking painted, you've successfully primed it. Pour a litre or so at a time into a smaller container and thin it, rather than your whole tub.

You have to stir it well, and keep stirring (slosh your brush around) or the solids will sink to the bottom of your kettle*

Very absorbent surfaces like concrete, and foamed lightweight blocks, need more than smooth finish plaster, for example inside a garage, shed or other unplastered building.

My plasterer said 50/50 (well, he actually said a pint of paint and a pint of water). Seems to be working well for ours, they're pretty much ready for painting now.

Do you know if your plasterer polished the walls after plastering? If so it will require less paint/dilution - if not it will suck the paint in like a sponge. A lot of people underestimate the value of a good mist coat if you paint this well now your walls will be far better for decoration- we have had in some rooms three mist coatings (renovation job) prior to painting as the plaster hadn't been polished and the walls just sucked the paint in - those rooms look great now they have been painted as we went to town on the mist coats. Good luck!
