do I have to change all the piping when replacing boiler?

Hi. I am about to lay new floors. Our boiler (combi) is on its last leg. I don't want to pay for the flooring to be done only to find out it needs to be lifted when the boiler eventually goes.

The boiler is in an airing cupboard and all the pipeworks I can see are copper including those on the radiators. Does replacing a boiler mean replacing all the pipes? Google is giving me conflicting answers.

Thanks

No it doesn’t. But there are many reasons that pipe might need replacing, it would be safest to get it checked before you do anything.

Answer from the plumber currently fitting my bathroom.

Probably best to get the boiler done first, we had ours replaced 3 weeks ago

On paper the house is only 11 years old so pipe work should have been ok, however a junction had gone thankfully in the upstairs subfloor area that could be lifted and easily repaired

I’m about to have the kitchen and utility floors tiled and would have been gutted if the problem had been under that floor

If you are ripping up downstairs floors, wait and get underfloor heating done at the same time as the boiler. You can thank me later ;-)

I would get a plumber out to give a view on it, ask for a quote. In theory no but it would be seriously annoying if you do. I always did flooring last just so doesn't get damaged when other work carried out too.

I got someone out today and he did an inspection. He said he won't be replacing any pipes and all the pipes he needs are accessible through the airing cupboard.

Thanks everyone
