What do you look for?

What are you especially looking out for when viewing a house, like what do you look for to check is clean? I don’t mean the general no clutter, dust or floor being clean I mean do you check if the ovens clean and little things like that or do you just look around the property? Also what puts you off a property if it was spotless and smelt gorgeous? Just having a discussion and wanted others opinions Smile

Never bought a house. Remember looking round when we moved and I was a teen so understood a reasonable amount.
Parents wanted a drive at the front
Garden of good size
The price of the property changed different expectations - if it was already at the budget and the carpets were horrible, and kitchen/bathroom needed redoing then that was a deal breaker. However where we moved to had a conservatory that leaked and the kitchen needed remodelling but the price was ok.
My mother wanted an airing cupboard of sorts to store and dry things when necessary. And a cupboard under the stairs

If you are selling your house, be prepared for viewers to open cupboards and the oven, try taps and flush the loos. The majority won't, but it's a big investment for most people. So, keep it clean and tidy and remove anything you don't want anyone to see. You can chuck a plastic box of bits and pieces in your car before viewings.

Jobs that need doing, etc make people think there could be bigger issues that haven't been dealt with.

I have just looked at a flat and have two more viewings tomorrow. I am weighing up the pros and cons of location v property. In fact the property in the worse location I saw today was so very good I've put in an offer, and am now waiting to hear.

What was good about it: light and airy, very good condition, spacious, lots of storage space (including build in wardrobe), good kitchen and bathroom.

Haven't cancelled tomorrow's viewings, though. I suspect I won't be the only one interested in the worse location flat.
