(I start the best threads. Only the best. The truly very best.)

Our doors are knackered; what sort of manual garage door(s) do you have & what do you like or not like about them?

We installed the roll up type of door on the garage we had built at our last house. Easy to lock but a wee bit heavy. Cost a fair whack, too, particularly if you're not able to install them yourself.

Current garage has the lift and tilt type and they're as insecure as ever without extra locks added. Also leaky.

we have lift & tilt, it has struggled thru & finally can't be repaired again. Very insecure, agreed.

Am thinking roll up is best, DH has a BIG drill to install extra bolts on it.

Big drill makes it worthwhile, then. Need to make sure big drill earns it's keep :o

We have one that’s split into thirds vertically.
One thirds can be opened with a key for pedestrian in and out and then the rest folds in two and sort of concertinas back. As garage doors go I think it works well and we leave via it with the pram for the school run etc everyday!

I have been thinking about replacing the knacked up and over with a sectional. I want an insulated one with some glazing because the freezer and a big pantry unit live in the garage and it will never see a car. I could do with it being warmer in there and more light is always good. Practically I'd be better with a sectional that slides around the inside wall so that it opened sideways and I could just open it a bit to go out with the mower. That would mean moving a lot of "stuff" and it would be much less work to have one that opened upwards and runs along the ceiling.

It was the next thing on my to do list except replacing the bathroom jumped the queue.
